Lifeguards needed to fill postitions at county parks

 


The Allegheny County Parks Department is seeking qualified applicants, ages 16 and older, to fill lifeguard positions at Boyce, North, Settlers Cabin, and South parks for the 2014 swimming season, which begins May 31.

Interested individuals must complete an aquatics examination at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, or 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 3. Both exams will take place at North Allegheny Senior High School located at 10375 Perry Highway in McCandless Twp.

Prior to participating in the aquatics exam, all applicants must present a completed physical examination form, employment application, and minimum of four references. No aquatics exam will be given without a doctor’s certification. Prior to May 26, candidates must also present current lifeguard training, first aid, and adult, child and infant CPR certifications.

The parks department will pay lifeguards on the following scale: $8.25 per hour for junior lifeguards; $9.25 per hour for first-year lifeguards; $9.50 per hour for senior lifeguards (employed with the county for two or more seasons); $9.75 per hour for assistant head lifeguards; and $10 per hour for head lifeguards.
