Visiting Mt. Washington, there's an app for that

The Mount Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC) has launched the Mt. Washington Guide, an iPhone application, and restructured website featuring the business directory and interactive map directly from the app.

The Mt. Washington Guide provides a mobile business directory for visitors and residents. Users can click on points on an interactive map of Mount Washington and Duquesne Heights, search for a business by name, or scroll through categories of businesses to find more information about location or hours, for example.

"The Mt. Washington Guide is a natural fit for a community like Mount Washington that draws so many tourists and visitors each year. Both the website and the app connect our local businesses with resources they might not have access to otherwise," according to Christina Howell, MWCDC outreach manager.

Additionally, the app will feature a skyline component, where visitors can stand at any one of the five overlooks on the face of Mount Washington and click on points on skyline photos for more information about buildings and landmarks they see.

Jon Lusin, MWCDC Board President, adds, "The app and website have exceeded our expectations in terms of ease of use and the information they convey to users."

The work was completed with a grant from PNC Foundation through Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), in partnership with Neighborhood Allies, to capitalize on the growing mobile technology market.
