State Rep. Erin Molchany, D-Allegheny, was appointed by Mayor William Peduto to serve on the board of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission because I understand how vital our region’s transportation infrastructure is to our economic growth,” Ms. Molchany said. “That’s why I have been an advocate for improved transportation for nearly a decade, and why I was a supporter of comprehensive transportation funding in Harrisburg.”
The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the 10-county region including the city of Pittsburgh and the counties of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland. The SPC is responsible for planning and prioritizing the use of state and federal transportation dollars to the region.
“I look forward to advocating for the transportation and future planning needs of Pittsburgh, particularly our South Pittsburgh communities,” Ms. Molchany said. “A robust transportation network brings new jobs and new residents to our communities, and continues our transformation into a world class city.”
