House adopts Random Acts resolution

The House of Representatives this week unanimously adopted a resolution introduced by state Rep. Harry Readshaw, D-Allegheny, declaring the week of Feb. 10 - 16 as Random Acts of Kindness Week in Pennsylvania.

House Resolution 608 marks the 20th anniversary of the week which is designed to spread kindness through the community one act at a time.

“Pennsylvania was one of the first states to endorse an official recognition of the value of Random Acts of Kindness,” Mr. Readshaw said. “The kindness revolution caught fire within Pennsylvania’s schools and communities and is now a nationwide movement to improve lives one good deed at a time. The whole purpose of this celebration is to brighten somebody’s day, for no specific reason, with no expectation of receiving anything in return. This week is a great opportunity to show and teach compassion and empathy to our youth.”

Mr. Readshaw recommends those looking for ideas, or to share their acts and experiences, to visit the website, http://www.randomactsofkindness.org.
