Pittsburgh police collecting unwanted medications

 


The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is participating with the Allegheny County District Attorney on a Medication Collection and Disposal Program.

The program provides a safe location for citizens to properly dispose of unused prescription and over the counter medications.

The District Attorney’s Office has provided the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police with a medication collection box. The medication collection box is located in the foyer at Police Headquarters, 1203 Western Avenue.

Residents can dispose of their unwanted or expired medications by depositing them in the secure medication collection box in the foyer at Pittsburgh Police Headquarters. The foyer area is open to the public at all hours.

Medications should remain in the original packaging or sealed containers. If possible, the labels on prescription medication should be kept on the container and any personal information removed or crossed out.

Syringes should not be placed in the collection boxes.

The District Attorney’s Office will periodically collect the disposed medications from the collection box and dispose of them at an approved facility.
