Tickets for So. Side Soup Contest will go on sale this Friday at noon


Tickets for the South Side Soup Contest go on sale on Friday, Feb. 7. Last year, the contest sold out in less than half an hour.

Tickets for the 10th Annual South Side Soup Contest presented by First National Bank will go on sale Friday, Feb. 7 at noon at for $25 each.

The 2014 South Side Soup Contest will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22 from noon to 3 p.m.

Last year, tickets for the event sold out in a matter of minutes. There is a limit of four tickets per order.

Participants are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item to help stock the Brashear Association Food Pantry. Top items needed include peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti sauce, tuna, cereal and baby food.

The annual soup tasting tour of South Side features more than 25 area restaurants providing samples of their own bisques, chowders, consommés and more.

This year's line-up of restaurants includes: 17th Street Café, The Amazing Café, Café du Jour, Caffe Davio, Carson City Saloon, Claddagh Irish Pub, Cupka's II, Dish Osteria, Double Wide Grill, Hello Bistro, La Palapa, Lin's Asian Fusion, Local Bar + Kitchen, Mario's South Side Saloon, OTB Bicycle Café, Piper's Pub, The Pub Chip Shop, The Smiling Moose, Soup and Side, Soup For Your Soul, Stagioni, Tootie's Famous Italian Beef, UPMC Mercy South Side, and, Yo Rita.

Check in locations for this year's Soup Contest will be The South Side Welcome Center, 1100 East Carson Street and the SouthSide Works Cinema, 425 Cinema Drive.

Tickets to this event are non-refundable. In the case of extreme weather, the event would be rescheduled.

Proceeds benefit the Brashear Association and the South Side Chamber of Commerce.
