Lane restrictions this week on Route 51 in Overbrook

Lane restrictions on Saw Mill Run Boulevard (Route 51) in the City of Pittsburgh were slated to begin on Monday, Jan. 13, weather permitting.

Single lane closures will occur as needed in each direction on Route 51 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Stewart Avenue and Maytide Street through Friday, Jan. 17. The closures will allow crews from Duquesne Light Company to install wire for utility poles and Verizon to install cable.

Additionally, a 15 minute closure may occur on Tuesday, Jan. 14 and Wednesday, Jan. 15 for overhead cable installation across Route 51.

To help keep motorists informed as work on the Route 51/88 project continues PennDOT is creating an email distribution list for Route 51/88 traffic advisories and construction updates. Enroll by sending email addresses to stcowan@pa.gov and writing “Subscribe – Route 51/88” in the subject line.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the area. Log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling.
