C.J. "Jim" Price of the South Side Slopes recently passed away.
Mr. Price was a long time member of the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association (SSSNA), having served on its board of directors from 1999-2000. He had a distinguished career in advertising and public relations and was key in creating the early voice and messaging of the SSSNA.
Shortly after joining the organization, he played an essential role in starting StepTrek and sustaining it during its early years. Mr. Price was part of a core group of four South Side Slopes residents who founded StepTrek, the annual tour of the Slopes many public stairways.
Leading up to the inaugural event in April 2000, he managed the public relations and wrote the brochure and other copy. He continued to provide communications guidance, counsel, and financial support during the first years of the event, which now attracts nearly 1,000 people to the South Side each fall.
Survived by his loving wife, Monica, they attended many slopes events over the years. Mr. Price always strived to improve the slopes in any way he could. He was a good friend and neighbor who was known for his humor and quick wit. He will be missed on the Slopes.
Mr. Price is survived by his wife Monica, daughter Lisa, son Mike, and their families.
