South Side groomers take top honors in competition

A Diamond In The Ruff Pet Salon & Boutique in South Side recently took top prizes in a grooming competition in The Pet Expo Pittsburgh at The David Lawrence Convention Center.

Pennsylvania groomers as well as pet groomers from neighboring states attended. From Creative Grooms they used their own pets and for the Rescue Round Up local animal shelters and rescue leagues brought in pets to be “made over” for adoption.  Out of 50 rescue dogs, 10 found new homes and others had many inquiries.

Salon Creative Chrissy Marburger won First Place with “Cooper” as a Pittsburgh Pirate Fan; Rescue Round 2, Best Technical and Best in Class; and, Rescue Round 3 Best Technical, Highest Degree of Difficulty and Best in Class.

Short-hair Creative Pamala McKitrrick won First Place with “Nacho” as a Tiger and in Rescue Round 1 she won Best Handling of a Difficult Dog.

All the winners for the three days were then judged for Final Awards.  Ms. Marburger won Best Bathed, Groomed and Styled along with the Grand Prize of the entire show, The Top Dog Standard of Excellence.
