PA Water will replace some water mains in So. Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania American Water has announced the start of construction to replace more than 2.5 miles of aging water main in the Pittsburgh area to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents.
“With these upgrades, we are replacing nearly 100-year old pipeline to ensure more reliable water service in communities throughout our southern Allegheny County service area,” said Jasun Stanton, Pennsylvania American Water manager of field operations for Pittsburgh.
Construction is starting to replace aging water main in the following South Pittsburgh communities: Glady’s Avenue in the 19th Ward and Delrose Street along with Amanda Street and East Cherryhill in the 29th Ward.
Weather permitting; the company expects to complete pipe installation and service connection tie-ins by the end of 2013.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
