Councilmen call for continued LCE action
Council Members Bruce Kraus and Bill Peduto will introduce a Will of Council on today, Tuesday, Oct. 29 expressing opposition to a proposed amendment in the State Legislature that would take away enforcement of noise violations from the Liquor Control Enforcement (LCE) branch of the Pennsylvania State Police.
Noise violations from nuisance alcohol establishments are one of the most common complaints from surrounding residents. Since 2012 alone, the Pittsburgh office of the LCE has issued over 100 warnings and citations related to amplified noise violations.
“The City of Pittsburgh needs extra patrols and enforcement from Liquor Control Enforcement agents,” said Councilman Peduto. “The city is the entertainment hub of the region. Enforcement cannot be left solely to the Pittsburgh Police.”
“This legislation would cause undue harm on residents throughout our city and put undue burden on our already strained police resources,” said Councilman Kraus.
