Programs at Allentown Pop-Up


The Allentown Pop-Up Library, 1206 Arlington Avenue, continues family programing into the fall.

A Promise Coaches Workshop will take place on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5:30-7 p.m. Learn how to become a Promise Coach and help Pittsburgh teens succeed in high school. The Promise Coaches Campaign aims to create a college-going culture in the City of Pittsburgh by empowering adults to help youth earn a high school diploma and succeed in college and careers.

The first step to becoming a Promise Coach is attending a workshop. The Pop-up Library in Allentown will be hosting a workshop to help train coaches. For more information on the Promise Coaches program, visit

Food Fun! nutrition education will take place on Saturdays, Oct. 5, 19 and 26 from noon. Learning about healthy food has never been this fun. Join nutrition educator, Ann Koutsavlis, for some hands of fun while learning about some healthy food options for kids.

WORKshop: Developing Your Career at UPMC is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Come in and meet a human resources representative from UPMC who will walk participants through the entire application and hiring process. Bring a resume to be reviewed and updated in order to get maximum exposure to UPMC recruiters.

Learn about getting your foot in the door at the largest employer in Pittsburgh and how it can lead to a long term career. Computers will be available for participants to apply directly for positions at UPMC with assistance from the HR Representative.
