Goodwill hosting contest for Halloween costumes

For thrift shop treasurer hunters who love making crazy costumes for Halloween, there’s a contest for them.

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania is inviting shoppers at its 30 stores throughout the region to use their imaginations to create Halloween costumes from the treasures they find at Goodwill. Those who send in a photo of their creation could win a $250 gift card in the second annual Goodwill Halloween Costume Photo Contest.

Here’s how it works: Create a Halloween costume from clothing and other items found at Goodwill stores. Then, take a photo wearing the Goodwill-inspired costume and submit it on Goodwill’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/goodwillswpa). There’s no limit to the number of photos that can be submitted by October 30.

Everyone can vote from October 1 through October 30. On Halloween – also known as October 31 – a Goodwill panel of judges will select four winners from the top ten photo submissions that have received the most votes.

The grand prize winner will receive a $250 Gift Card. Second, third and fourth place winners will each receive a $50 Goodwill SWPA gift certificate.
