DogtoberFEST returns to South Side on October 5

DogtoberFEST 2013 will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the SouthSide Works.

Hosted by CARMAA (Coalition to Adopt, Rehome and Match Abandoned Animals) and sponsored by Robinson Animal Hospital, DogtoberFEST is a one-day event to promote dog adoptions and raise awareness about rescues and shelters in Western PA. This outdoor festival will feature dozens of animal shelters, breed-specific rescues, specialty vendors, live music, homemade food, Ask-A-Trainer and Ask-A-Vet booths and training demonstrations.

The Celebration of Adoption starts at 11 a.m. with the Pooch Pride Parade Costume Contest with more than $500 in prizes available for Most Creative, Best Homemade and Dog-Owner Lookalike Costume, $5 entry fee. Adoptable dogs from shelters and rescues across our area will be available and ready to meet their potential new families.

Dogs from the public are welcome to come and meet the adoptable dogs or just have a day out on the town. All public dogs must be current on vaccinations, be people and dog friendly and on a non-retractable leash. Admission is free for the public.

DogtoberFEST will take place in the SouthSide Works parking lot next to McCormick and Schmick’s restaurant, Sidney Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
