The fenced in former swimming pool at Warrington Recreation Center looks more like the construction site which it is, more than the spray park that was scheduled to open in August. The 11,000 square-foot spray park instead of wrapping it up for the season is waiting on a vault needed to continue construction, according to the architect for the project, J.T. Sauer. The new target date for completion is the week of September 23. In addition, the city has requested a quote to update and improve the playground surface at Warrington Recreation Center. When eventually completed, the spray park will feature a water bucket, sea monster, flower shower and various in-ground water features operated via manual or sensor-activated control systems. The urban park design incorporates graphic elements representing the confluence of Pittsburgh’s rivers at Point State Park.
