Munchkin Mondays, Carnegie Science Center’s program for early learners ages 2-6, resumed on Monday, Sept. 9.
Free with general admission to the Science Center, Munchkin Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. offer a variety of hands-on activities for preschoolers, as well as time to socialize with their peers.
Children, with the assistance of parents or guardians, will participate in story time, make-and-takes, and planetarium and live demonstration shows.
Munchkin Mondays feature a unique and engaging theme each week that introduces early learners to science concepts. The following dates and topics are scheduled through Oct. 28:
Sept. 16: Weather Wonder! Learn about the one thing that affects everyone tall and small…..wild and wacky weather!
Sept. 23: Fish and Friends! Explore fantastic fish and sea creatures that live in the oceans!
Sept. 30: Magnificent Magnets! Investigate the magic behind how magnets work.
Oct. 7: Busy Bots! Learn all about robots and the Dirty, Dull, and Dangerous jobs they do for humans every day!
Oct. 14: Build it! Explore simple structures, be an engineer, and build your own bridge!
Oct. 21: Chemistry is Cool! Experiment with kid-friendly chemistry during National Chemistry Week!
Oct. 28: Not So Spooky, Spooky Science! Take a test run of your Halloween Costume. Plus, learn about pumpkins, bats, spiders and all things, not so spooky about Halloween Science!
On Sept. 30, Oct. 14, and Oct. 21, kids will get the chance to meet Fiddlesticks, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s feline musical ambassador to children, from noon- 2 p.m.
