Conservation Consultants hires new exec. director

Conservation Consultants, Inc. (CCI) has announced the appointment of Jeaneen Zappa as executive director effective September 16.

Ms. Zappa follows Ann Gerace who has led the organization for the past 25 years. She brings more than 20 years of professional experience spanning the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.

Most recently, Ms. Zappa served four years as the first sustainability manager for Allegheny County, where she established sustainability priorities and programs for both internal operations and to assist in driving regional leadership. Under her direction, the county published its first benchmark carbon inventory report and action plan, adopted greener purchasing and recycling policies and has collaborated with a number of community partners in the Re-Energize Pittsburgh coalition.

“Conservation Consultants, Inc. makes a remarkable impact in the lives of everyday people with its programs that improve energy efficiency in homes, lower bills and make people more comfortable,” said Ms. Zappa. “I am tremendously excited about being part of this work at CCI. I am equally pleased to work with such

an excellent staff and to guide the organization as CCI continues to reinvigorate the ways in which it leads regional energy efficiency and conservation work.”

Ms. Zappa completed her undergraduate degrees in Magazine Journalism and Business Administration/Marketing at Syracuse University and earned an M.B.A. at the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a LEED-AP accreditation and is a graduate of the CORO Center program for Women in Leadership.

She is currently a member of the board of directors of the Allegheny Land Trust and the president of the board of the Nine Mile Run Watershed Association.
