Nominations welcome for Goodwill awards


Nominations are invited for the 17th annual Power of Work Awards sponsored by Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania to recognize employers and organizations that support workforce development for individuals with special needs or barriers to employment. Nomination deadline is September 27.

The competition is open to all employers – businesses, public entities, and nonprofit organizations – in the Western Pennsylvania counties of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland. Employers are strongly encouraged to nominate themselves, and nominations also may be submitted by interested parties such as employees, other businesses, nonprofit organizations, referral agencies, etc. Previous winners of the Power of Work Awards may be nominated based on new workforce development programs.

An independent panel of judges composed of human service and human resources professionals, civic leaders, and members of the academic community, will select the recipients of the 2013 Power of Work Awards. Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony and luncheon on November 12 in the Allegheny Grand Ballroom of the Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh in downtown Pittsburgh.

Since the program’s inception in 1997, Goodwill has presented Power of Work Awards to more than 40 different employers and organizations.
