82nd Annual Polish Day at Kennywood Park August 6

 


Come celebrate the 82nd annual Polish Day at Kennywood Park.

The day will feature a Polish kitchen opening at 11:30 a.m. with homemade pierogi, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, cucumbers and sour cream, cabbage and noodles homemade pickles and other delicacies just like grandma made. Father Miro will have his famous potato pancakes cooked to order.

The Bake Sale is back with many freshly baked homemade goodies to enjoy in the park or to take home for later. Dance and sing along with strolling musicians from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Beginning at 1 p.m., the afternoon festivities will begin. They will include:

Lajkoniki Dancers under the direction of Frank Pociask begin at 2 p.m., sponsored by the Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church of McKeesport.

Mass celebrated at 3 p.m. by Reverend Joseph Swierczynski, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. The Mass will feature the Karuzela Chorus.

At 4:15 p.m. a Polish folk concert is planned by the Karuzela Chorus under the direction of Dr. Neil Stahurski. Crowning of Miss Polonia 2012 is also planned for this time.

From 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. the Polish Day Program includes presentation of Frania of “Frania’s Polka Celebration” WEDO 810 Radio, Polonian of the Year.

At 6 p.m. polka with Polka Family at the main pavilion near the Polish Kitchen.
