Summer activites continuing at the Carrick branch library

 


Join the annual Summer Reading program at the Carrick Branch Library, featuring books, prizes and weekly activities for kids of all ages.

From babies and toddlers to tweens and teens, there’s tons of free fun for everyone at the library this summer. Summer Reading continues through August 10. Stop in and sign up today.

Summer Storytime features stories, rhymes, songs and more fun activities to nurture early literacy skills. Join in on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. on July 30, August 6, 13, 20, and 27. This program is recommended for toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers.

Kids in grades K-5: Can come in for Kids Club as they dig into a summer of fun at the library. Drop in for projects, crafts and activities to beat boredom and stretch their imagination. Friday, July 26 at 3:30 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 1, 8, and 15 at 3:30 p.m.

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History will present a program all about rocks just for kids on Saturday, July 27 at 1 p.m. This program is recommended for kids in grades K-5. Register in advance by calling 412-882-3897.

The Carnegie Science Center will present a program exploring bugs for kids in grades K-5 on Friday, Aug. 9 at 3:30 p.m. Register in advance by calling 412-882-3897.

For teens in grades 6-12-- if they like art projects, games, music, candy and just chilling out – should come kick it at Teen Thing, every Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The teens of CLP- Carrick have been busy writing, directing, and starring in an original horror movie: Chairpocalypse-- the story of an evil man-eating chair (rated PG-13). Join cast and crew for the world premiere of this short film made at the library (plus free popcorn).

Screening times are: Monday, Aug. 5: 12 p.m ., 12:30 p.m ., 1 p.m ., 2 p.m ., 2:30 p.m ., 3 p.m ., 3:30 p.m ., 4 p.m. and, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 7-8: 5 p.m ., 5:30 p.m ., 6 p.m ., 6:30 p.m ., 7 p.m.
