Samantha Pashel of the South Side, home on break from her undergraduate studies at St. Vincent College, went on a service trip to Guatemala for a week in May.
On Sunday, July 21, at 11:15 a.m., she will give a presentation in the South Side Presbyterian Church Social Hall about her experience and the lives of the many people she met. Ms. Pashel served people who live by the city’s garbage dump in Zone 3 of Guatemala; making their living off of scavenging the dump, and sometimes relying on the dump for their food as well.
Ms. Pashel served part of the day with students and teachers at the Francisco Coll School there, which was begun by International Samaritan; the rest of the day she worked on a construction project at the school. All are welcome to attend this informative presentation about one of the poorest populations in the world.
All are also welcome to attend the 10 a.m. morning worship service at the church before the presentation.
