Jerrell Whitlock, 26, accused of stabbing Pittsburgh Steeler Mike Adams on June 1 on South Side was returned to Pittsburgh on Friday, June 28, by Allegheny County sheriff’s deputies pursuant to an extradition order.

Jerrell Whethers and Precious Gethers

Mr. Whitlock’s girlfriend, Precious Gethers, 24, was also extradited.

Sheriff’s deputies removed Mr. Whitlock and Ms. Gethers from the Alachua County, FL, jail and brought them back to Pittsburgh on a commercial airline flight. The pair were then taken to Pittsburgh Police Headquarters for questioning. Both were transported to the Allegheny County Jail to await arraignment.

On June 14, Mr. Whitlock, Ms. Gethers and a three year-old child were found in a hotel room at the Knight’s Inn in Gainesville, Florida. Members of the United States Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force, Gainesville Police Department, and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office took the pair into custody after working in cooperation with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.

A non-compliant Mr. Whitlock was subdued with a Taser as he fled out a door onto a balcony. Both waived extradition hearings and were incarcerated in the Alachua County Jail until Friday.

Mr. Whitlock is charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, criminal attempt carjacking, and criminal conspiracy.

Ms. Gethers is charged with hindering apprehension and endangering the welfare of a child. Both counts are third degree felonies.

There are no more arrests expected in this case.
