On June 4, the South Side-based Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh hosted 19 volunteers from American Eagle Outfitters as part of the first ever AEO Better World Community Day.
Corporate American Eagle employees from New York and Pittsburgh participated in more than 30 projects in one day, with Pittsburgh Cares helping to coordinate the event. At Emmaus, volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty painting fences, staining a deck, and planting a vegetable garden at Emmaus’s Bethany House.
While they were there, they also had the opportunity to meet and socialize with some of the Emmaus residents. Upon completion of the projects, American Eagle Outfitters presented Emmaus with a donation of $1,000 to support their programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
