Carrie Furnaces subject of Silver Eye Center call for submissions

 


Silver Eye Center for Photography announces a call for entries for contemporary photographs taken at the Carrie Furnaces in Rankin.

Selected works will be displayed at Silver Eye Center for Photography, at 1015 East Carson Street in South Side, from August 2 - 24, in a special exhibition showcasing the beauty and history behind the Carrie Furnaces.

Works will be chosen by Jen Rokoski, Silver Eye Center for Photography, and Ron Baraff, director of Museum Collections and Archives at Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area. Artists included in the exhibition will receive a complimentary registration for one of Silver Eye’s upcoming Photo Safaris.

There are no fees to submit.

Those who would like to submit and entry should email one to five works as .JPG attachments to: submissions@silvereye.org. Included in the email body for all attached images should be: Name of artist, Title, Date and Dimensions (with and without frame, height by width format) of work. Also, include a contact phone number in email body.

Deadline for submissions is Monday, July 15, 11:59:59 p.m.

Regulations for submissions include:

All photographs must be taken at the Carrie Blast Furnaces.

All photographs submitted must be ready for professional display by the artist at the time of drop-off at Silver Eye Center for Photography.

Selected works will need to be delivered on Tuesday, July 20 or Tuesday, July 23, 8 - 6 p.m ., and picked up on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 8 - 6 p.m ., at Silver Eye Center for Photography. These dates are subject to change at the discretion of the exhibition coordinator.

By submitting a photograph, the photographer declares that they are the authorized holder of the copyright (or authorized by the holder) to submit a photograph to the Carrie Furnaces exhibition. They further guarantee that, to the best of their knowledge, no third party can claim rights or raise objections to the exhibition, publication, distribution, and sale of the material submitted.

By submitting a photograph, the photographer permits Silver Eye Center for Photography to use their work for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the Carrie Furnaces exhibition. This may include, but is not limited to, print and online publications, press releases, announcements, stories, social media, and advertising.

The artist retains all copyright for their artwork.
