Bauer and Carson will be at The Coffee House
The Coffee House at the South Side Presbyterian Church, features poets Joan E. Bauer and Jay Carson in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Poetry Exchange on Friday, June 14, from 7:30 – 9 p.m.
Ms. Bauer, an award-winning poet, is the author of The Almost Sound of Drowning (Main Street Rag, 2008), and recently completed a new poetry manuscript, Dreaming of Prague. Her poetry has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. She is active in the communities of poets here in Pittsburgh and also in Venice, CA, where she curates the Hemingway Summer Poetry Series with Jimmy Cvetic.
Mr. Carson’s books of poems include The Cinnamon of Desire (Main Street Rag, 2012) and Irish Coffee (Coal Hill Review). More than 60 or his poems have been published in literary journals, magazines, and anthologies.
A seventh generation Pittsburgher, Mr. Carson teaches creative writing, literature, and rhetoric at Robert Morris University, where he is a University Professor and a faculty advisor to the student literary journal, Rune. Active professionally, he regularly presents, reads and publishes. He considers his poetry Appalachian, Irish, accessible, the problem-solving spiritual survival of a raging youth -- and just what you might need.
The poets will also have books available for sale and signing.
The Coffee House is at the South Side Presbyterian Church at the corner of South 20th and Sarah streets in South Side, enter on 20th Street. It includes candlelight conversation, creative performers and refreshments with the suggested donation of $5.
