Parents of children entering kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year are invited to a special ‘Welcome to Arlington’ kindergarten transition event Wednesday, June 5 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-2 school, 2429 Charcot Street in Arlington.
Staff from the Ready Freddy program and volunteers from the Carnegie Library and Hilltop Family Support will be on hand along with Arlington school staff to help parents learn what to expect for their child’s kindergarten year, complete enrollment forms if they aren’t already enrolled, meet the kindergarten teachers, and get answers to questions about kindergarten.
Refreshments will be provided, and all families attending will receive a free children’s book. To RSVP for the ‘Welcome to Arlington’ event, families should contact the primary school at 412-488-4700.
Any child who will be 5 years old before September 30 is eligible to enroll for kindergarten. Parents who plan to enroll at the event are advised to bring their child’s birth certificate and immunization record along with two proofs of address (utility bill, driver’s license, tax return or state ID) in order to complete the enrollment process.
In addition to enrollment and transition activities, Ready Freddy offers Kindergarten Club (K-Club) workshops for parents of emerging kindergartners that include fun learning activities and help connect families to their child’s school. Any parent seeking information about K-Clubs should contact Medina Jackson, Ready Freddy outreach coordinator, at 412-244-5019 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
