More than 70 Port Authority bus routes will see changes effective Sunday, June 16.
Schedules for nearly 45 bus routes, with at least half a dozen in South Pittsburgh, adjusted starting that day. Port Authority regularly adjusts schedules four times a year.
Included in the June schedule adjustments are routing and schedule tweaks to the bus routes affected by the ongoing weight restriction on Swissvale’s Kenmawr Bridge, as well as changes to better serve Bedford Avenue in the Hill District.
Along with regular quarterly routing and scheduling adjustments, Port Authority will also begin the first of several phases of bus stop consolidations next month. Nearly 430 stops across 36 bus routes will be eliminated effective June 16. The stops chosen for elimination are ones that see little to no use.
Routes that will be affected in South Pittsburgh include:
40 Mt Washington: Trip times will be adjusted;
48 Arlington: Trip times will be adjusted;
51 Carrick: Trip times will be adjusted for all days. On weekdays, frequency will be decreased to every 10 minutes from 6:20 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and from 2:50 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. The weekday inbound trips that arrive Downtown at 7:40 a.m., 8:10 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. will be extended to begin at Lebanon Road past Noble Drive instead of at Brentwood Loop. Additionally, the weekday outbound trip departing Downtown at 2:10 p.m. will be extended to end at Century Square and the weekday inbound trip arriving Downtown at 4:30 p.m. will begin at Century Square instead of at Lebanon Road past Noble Drive;
