Blood drive at Hot Metal Faith

The American Red Cross will hold a zombie-themed blood drive at the Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community on Friday, May 31 from 2-7 p.m.

Those who want to schedule an appointment in advance are encouraged to call 412-481-4010 or register online at http://www.hotmetalbridge.com. Walk-in donations will be accepted as well.

The donation process consists of four steps: registration, a confidential medical history screening followed by a mini-physical, donation and refreshments. The actual donation takes about ten minutes.

The church chose a zombie theme to build on the success of the vampire-themed drive they hosted in October. Once again, volunteers will be dressed up and the room decorated but this time the George Romero classic Night of the Living Dead will be screened instead of vampire movies, and donors will enter a drawing to win a variety of prizes celebrating Pittsburgh’s contributions to zombie pop culture.

The Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community is located at the corner of 27th and Jane streets in South Side. The 48 and 75 bus lines have stops nearby and parking for cars and bicycles is available on-site.
