The City of Pittsburgh’s Annual Shelter Permit Day will be held on Saturday, March 23 in the lobby of the City-County Building, 414 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

Pittsburgh residents who are interested in reserving any of the city’s 26 picnic shelters from May 1 through September 30 are encouraged to attend.

Lottery numbers will be distributed from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. on the portico of the City-County Building. Numbers will be called inside the lobby starting promptly at 8:30 a.m.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and provide proof of residency to obtain a permit. Payment in full can be made in the form of cash, money order or certified check, and should be made payable to: Treasurer, City of Pittsburgh.

Reservations are currently being accepted for rental of the enclosed shelters located in Banksville Park, West End Park and at the West End/Elliott Overlook. These shelters are available for rental year-round. Shelter permits can be purchased Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Department of Public Works, located at 611 Second Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
