A.C. Health Department suspends TB screenings

Effective yesterday, Monday, March 11, the Allegheny County Health Department will temporarily suspend routine tuberculosis screenings due to a shortage of purified protein derivative (PPD), the solution used to administer the TB skin test.

The Health Department will resume routine screenings for such purposes as employment and school when the supply of TB skin testing solution increases and returns to normal levels.

For more specific information regarding the availability of TB skin testing during the shortage, call the Health Department at 412-578-8162.
