Mt. Washington bank held up last week

Last week, on January 22, Zone 3 officers responded to the First National Bank on Wyoming Street in Mount Washington for a report of a bank robbery.

The suspect entered the bank and went to a teller who told him to remove the scarf, which was covering his nose and mouth, and sunglasses. The suspect then threw a blue bag with black straps over the counter in front of the teller and told her to “put it in…no dye pack.”

The teller complied with the suspect’s demand for cash. The suspect then moved to another teller and ordered her to put money in the bag. It was reported the suspect had a small silver automatic gun.

The suspect fled the bank on foot toward Jennie Street with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured in the robbery.

The Pittsburgh Police Robbery Squad and Major Crimes Unit responded to investigate and process the scene.

A vague description was provided, describing the actor as possibly a black male, 5’11” – 6’1”, medium-heavy build, wearing a large bulky light colored coat possibly beige with a black scarf, black tossel hat, black gloves and sunglasses. A photo wasn’t available at press time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Robbery Squad at 412-323-7151. Callers may remain anonymous.
