MWCDC names Kambitsis to position
Jason Kambitsis has been named executive director for The Mount Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC).
Mr. Kambitsis has most recently been employed as the director of economic development for the organization. In his new position, he will be responsible for guiding the organization’s mission and vision as well as overseeing the overall administration of the organization and its program areas which include: community outreach, fundraising, economic and real estate development, parks and conservation.

I am excited to be working with such a great community and staff. 2013 is going to be a great year for the community, I am honored to be a part of it.”
Mr. Kambitsis’ other duties will include implementing the MWCDC’s Strategic Plan and furthering the development of Emerald View Park, the area’s fifth regional park.
“We are excited to have Jason assuming this new role with the organization,” says Board President Jonathan Lusin. “We anticipate that his energy and enthusiasm for economic and community development will translate into a bright new future for Mount Washington.”
As director of economic development, Mr. Kambitsis’ role included fostering new commercial and residential development within the Mount Washington and Duquesne Heights neighborhoods as well as recruiting new businesses to the area and providing technical assistance to help retain existing businesses.
He came to the Mount Washington CDC from the City of Pittsburgh Department of City Planning where he was a senior planner overseeing planning activities for 23 of Pittsburgh’s 90 neighborhoods. He is also a founding principal at Aspect, a community planning and data analysis firm.
He holds a B.S. in Geography and Regional Planning from Indiana University of PA and a Master’s of City and Regional Planning from CalPoly, San Luis Obispo. He is also a freelance journalist with work seen in publications such as Wired, ABC News, PopCity and CNN.
