Foundation distributing shopping bags

As part of its celebration of 15 years of grantmaking in the South Pittsburgh area, the Birmingham Foundation is distributing 500 reusable canvas shopping bags to area food pantries.

The shopping bags will be given away free of charge to residents who use the food pantries in Arlington, Beltzhoover, Carrick, South Side and other South Pittsburgh neighborhoods. Distribution of the bags began this week. The foundation hopes residents will find using the shopping bags to be more convenient and a green alternative to plastic shopping bags.

The Birmingham Foundation is a private (independent) community-focused foundation dedicated to health-related and human services grantmaking in South Pittsburgh.
