Police looking for Mount man

Zone 3 Officers were called to the 50 block of Harwood Street at 6 a.m. to take a criminal mischief report on August 11.

The officers were met by the victim who reported her car window and front window of her house were shot out at approximately 6 a.m. Officers observed that the front driver side window was shattered with what appeared a gunshot as well as the front window to her home.

The woman reported her two children, ages 8 and 13, were in the living room at the time. They heard what they thought were fireworks until a bullet came through the house and lodged itself into a dining room wall.

One of the children told the police she looked out the window and saw a white man with dark hair shoot the window of the car.

The victim told police a man identified as John Layburn, 22, 5’7”, 145 lbs. with brown hair from the Mount Washington area, has been threatening her. She also said the incident was a result of previous encounters with Mr. Layburn.

Responding police recovered two shell casings from the street and were sent to the Crime Lab for processing. An arrest warrant has been issued for Mr. Layburn.

If anyone can identify and/or knows the whereabouts of Mr. Layburn they are asked to contact Officer Scafede at Zone 3 at 412-488-8326. Callers may remain anonymous.
