Parking ticket on Slopes leads to bust for drugs, guns

A parking ticket on the South Side Slopes put a Zone 3 police officer in the right place and at the right time to get guns and drugs off the street.
The officer had just finished writing a parking ticket in the 100 block of Pius Street at 9 p.m. on October 29 and was sitting in his patrol car when he reported hearing three gunshots in the area. A red Explorer with Florida license plates came around the corner in a reckless manner from South 18th Street.
The reported that the suspect drove past a very high rate of speed. The driver of the car failed to stop while attempting to turn onto Brosville Street, losing control of the vehicle, hitting a telephone pole and rolling the vehicle.
Additional responding police units arrived and assisted the suspects in getting out of their car through the rear hatch of the vehicle. After the car was cleared of the suspects, the police were able to see numerous items of contraband in plain view during the inventory and towing of the vehicle.
Officers seized spent casings, a S&W .40 caliber gun, grocery bags containing 25 bricks of Heroin, marijuana, cell phones and $339 in cash.
The suspects were put into custody and taken to the Zone 3 Station in Allentown where they were checked by paramedics. None of the suspects sustained any injuries in the collision.
Arrested were Maurice Freeman, 20, and Stephen Morgan, 18, from the Hilltop. Mr. Freeman was charged with Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; Firearms not to be carried without a license; Criminal conspiracy and Possession of a controled substance. Mr. Morgan was charged with the same crimes in addition to: Former convict not to own a firearm and marijuana possession (small amount).
Derek McKissick, 20, from Clairton was charged with Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; Firearms not to be carried without a license; Criminal conspiracy; Possession of a controled substance; and, Former convict not to own a firearm. Danny White, 28, from Mt. Washington was charged with Firearms not to be carried without a license.
A fourth male was later stopped in a second related vehicle and arrested with a third firearm.
