Carrick Alumni Assoc. to honor Coach Blair and four graduates

The Carrick High School Alumni Association will dedicate a bronze memorial plaque honoring the late Coach Casimer Blair on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 9:30 a.m. at the high school.
All former athletes and students of Coach Blair (1961-1980) are welcome to attend the dedication. A luncheon, for which reservations are needed, will follow the memorial dedication.
As part of the dedication, the alumni association will recognize four graduates who had close relationships with Coach Blair, in its Distinguished Alumnus Program which began in 2007.
Alumni to be honored are:
Steve Korpa, Class of 1959, one of Coach Blair’s assistant football coaches who taught at Carrick High for more than 30 years and was recognized nationally by the Reader’s Digest and the Disney Corporation for his involvement in bringing a volatile situation at the school under control in 1988;
Thomas D. Loadman, Class of 1973, the vice president and general manager of the Railroad Products & Services Division of Koppers Company for the past 18 years and Coach Blair’s quarterback on the 1972 championship team. He went on to play football for four years at West Virginia University;
William H. Hunt, CEC, CCE, AAC, Class of 1974, was also a member of the 1972 team. Mr. Hunt is now president and director of Culinary Education of the nation-wide Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts; and,
Matt Aloisio, Class of 1973, president and CEO of ABCO Fire Protection Inc. and is a Replay Official for the Big 10 MAC Football Conference. Previously he was an on-field official for more than 200 Division I football games. He also starred on Coach Blair’s 1972 City Championship Team.
Coach Blair, who was the head coach of the football and swimming teams, was the winningest football coach in the history of Carrick High. His Boys Swim Teams hold a record of 18 straight winning seasons.
Carrick’s football teams won 87 games during Coach Blair’s tenure including City League Football Championships in 1969, beating Peabody High 30-6, and in 1972 when his Carrick Raiders outclassed Allderdice High 28-20. In addition his teams were runners-up for the city championship in four other seasons.
Coach Blair’s team of 1969 holds the Carrick High football season record of 266 points. He holds the school record of coaching 160 varsity football games during his 19 year career at Carrick High.
