Get Stuffed with Love to provide dinners

October 16, 2012

Get Stuffed with Love, the annual fall campaign to provide Thanksgiving meals to people in need including homeless, shut-ins, disabled is gearing up for this year.

The South Side Rotary, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, South Side Sokol Club, and Giant Eagle are partnering to cook, assemble, and deliver Thanksgiving Day meals to those who need them. Over the past 10 years, this event has gone from feeding 250 people to more than 1,500 people and the numbers keep growing.

Neighborhoods being helped include: Allentown, Arlington, Banksville, Beechview, Beltzhoover, Bon Air, Brookline, Carrick, Chartiers City, Crafton Heights, Duquesne Heights, East Carnegie, Elliott, Esplen, Fairywood, Knoxville, Mt. Oliver, Mt. Washington, Oakwood, Overbrook, Ridgemont, Sheraden, South Side, West End, Westwood, and Windgap.

This year they expect to feed approximately 2,000 people, but they need help. There are several ways area residents can help this year.

Those in need or know of someone in need of a Thanksgiving Day meal should contact Officer Christine Luffey at 412-488-8425 and provide their name and address.

They can make a donation: Checks should be made payable to: "District 7300 Foundation Corporation" and write "Get Stuffed With Love" in the memo. Checks should be mailed to: Pittsburgh's South Side Rotary Club, 1812 E. Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203

There are no income requirements to receive a hot, free and delicious meal.
