Sixth annual Ethnic Festival celebrated at Saint Mary of the Mount in October
The Sixth Annual Saint Mary of the Mount Ethnic Festival will fill the Sullivan Hall Cafeteria on Bigham Street with traditional ethnic food, games, and entertainment October 12, 13 and 14.
The festival spotlights the heritage of Mount Washington as well as the cultural richness of the city of Pittsburgh.
The celebration kicks off Friday night with festival attendees treated to culinary delights from the American, Greek, Irish, German, French, Polish, Mexican and Italian traditions. Delicious foods like piping hot roast turkey dinner and stuffing, gyros and buttery baklava, specially seasoned ham, cabbage and Irish stew, savory pulled pork sandwiches, fresh potato pancakes, crepes, authentic stuffed cabbage and pierogies, spicy tacos and fajitas, tortellini and stuffed banana peppers and homemade bake goods will all be on sale.
On Friday evening, Bill Eiler the Magician will perform from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday evening, performing clowns Glitter Dot Dapper will entertain the crowd with balloons and face painting from 6 -8 p.m. Sunday evening, there will be strolling live ethnic music courtesy of Edwardo who will perform a variety of ethnic music using his one-man band equipment from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The festival takes place from 4-8 p.m ., Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 14 from 1-6 p.m. Proceeds benefit Saint Mary of the Mount Parish and the Saint Mary of the Mount Angel Fund which supports continued Catholic School education for children of the parish.
