Local arts organizations receive grants

State Rep. Martin Michael Schmotzer, D-Allegheny, announced that more than $52,000 in state arts grants have been awarded to organizations in the 22nd Legislative District.

Organizations receiving the grants include: Balmoral School of Highland Piping, $3,448; Manchester Craftsmen's Guild, $37,342; Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting (WYEP-FM), $5,263; Silver Eye Center for Photography, $5,474; and, South Arts, $2,000.

"Residents of the 22nd District will also benefit from other grants in the more than $1.4 million being awarded throughout Allegheny County. These include the $98,362 for the Carnegie Museum of Art, $142,387 for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and more than $11,000 total for the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra, to name just a few of the local programs," Rep. Schmotzer said.
