Dispose of old prescriptions on Drug Take Back Day

September 18, 2012

The U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will sponsor a fall National Drug Take Back Day collection on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Drop-off sites will be available at many municipal police departments throughout Western Pennsylvania. Law enforcement will be on site to ensure all material collected is handled in accordance with all federal, state and local laws.

The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) is partnering with the DEA to help promote this important collection. PRC staff and volunteers will be present at several drop-off locations to help facilitate the event.

There is no cost to drop off unwanted, unused, or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications.

All six Pittsburgh Police Stations are participating in the event, including Zone 3 at the corner of Arlington and East Warrington avenues.

For more details, visit PRC's Zero Waste Pittsburgh website at:,, or call Michael Stepaniak of PRC at 412-488-7452.
