And five steps back

September 11, 2012

The recent bike path on Carson Street below Seventh Street will soon have a new neighbor, a gas station and large convenience store.

The city government traffic report projected that 3,200 vehicles will travel in and out of Seventh Street. The same traffic report currently shows an average of eight vehicles.

Councilman Kraus threw his support for this gas station without any respect for the safety issues of bicycles using the new bike path. The 3,200 vehicles will be using only a stop sign to exit the gas station on Seventh Street and go across the new bike path.

One step forward and five steps back regarding safe roads for citizens who like to bike. Once again the enjoyment of the regular person is lost in politics.
