Mt. Oliver council approves new contract for police chief

The Special Meeting of Mount Oliver Borough called to approve a new contract for Chief of Police Frank Mossesso was called to order at 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, by 7:14 p.m. the meeting was over.

All council members were present along with Mayor James Cassidy and Chief Mossesso,

Before proceeding with the vote, Councilman George Farneth asked Chief Mossesso to confirm the contract they were voting on was to his knowledge the same contract he negotiated with Councilman Darnell Sains in the preceding days.

Mr. Farneth also asked Mr. Sains to confirm that the contract accurately reflects the agreement reached with the chief.

"As I've read it and agreed to it and helped to complete it, yes to the best of my ability," replied Mr. Sains.

A motion to approve the contract was made by Councilman Pat Malloy, seconded by Mr. Farneth and approved 7-0.

Mr. Cassidy initiated contract talks with Mr. Mossesso beginning in June. Joining in the discussions were Mr. Sains as chair of the Public Safety Committee and Councilman Corey McGough as a member of the committee.

Joining in the negotiations in August was Borough Solicitor J. Deron Gabriel
