August 14, 2012

Holly Mohr has accepted the position of full time director of religious education for Saint Mary of the Mount and St. Justin parishes.

Ms. Mohr will be responsible for implementing and monitoring a program of religious education for children in grades 1-8 as St. Mary of the Mount and St. Justin parishes merge into one new program for the fall of 2012. She will also be overseeing the Faith Formation for all people of all ages at both parishes.

Ms. Mohr received a B.A. in Philosophy from Christendom College and Franciscan University and an M.A. in Philosophy from Duquesne University. Prior to accepting this position, she gained experience as an adjunct professor at several local universities including Seton Hill, Chatham, and Community College of Allegheny County.

She was also recently certified in Catechesis of Good Shepherd, a program for 3-4 year olds that will be shared with both parishes in the coming months. In addition, she has not only been volunteering at St. Mary of the Mount Religious Education program teaching third, seventh and eighth grades and helping to develop an updated Confirmation preparation program for both parishes, but also developing some great initiatives for Faith Formation in Mt. Washington.

Ms. Mohr is married to Eric, they have a daughter Juliana, and she has been a member of St. Mary of the Mount for about five years

A dedicated, professional search committee composed of the parishioners from both parishes, as well as pastors from both churches, worked together in the selection process. The committee recommended several final candidates, and the pastors made the final decision together which they believe is best decision for the future of Faith Formation in Mt. Washington.
