Pittsburgh police are asking the public's help in finding the men who stole $3,000 in cell phones from area stores.
On Friday, April 13, Zone 4 Officers responded to call at the Verizon store in the 5800 block Forbes Avenue for a report of retail theft of cell phones. The store manager reported three men came into the store. One of the men walked up to the counter and started asking questions while the other two separated, looking at displays in the store.
A short time later the second and third men left the store and the man at the counter followed.
The manager noticed two phones had been cut from their security wires and were missing. Surveillance video showed the suspects engaging in the theft.
The police believe two of the men acted as look outs. No one was injured and the Zone 4 plainclothes detectives are investigating.
Then again on Monday, April 16, Zone 3 Officers responded to a call at the Verizon store in the 2700 block of Carson Street for a report of a theft. The officers were met by the district manager who reported two men cut the wires to the phones that were connected to the display case.
The district manager reported to police the suspects appeared to be the same suspects who stole from the Forbes Avenue store. The suspects are on surveillance video which has been released to police.
The estimated value of all the cell phones stolen is $3,000.
