Dress sale will benefit Project Prom at mall

April 17, 2012

The Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) will hold a sale of formal dresses on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Project Prom Shop, on the third floor of Century III Mall.

The public will have the opportunity to purchase formalwear and accessories at a fraction of the retail price and help support Project Prom, as all proceeds will go towards the purchase of tuxedo gift cards and dresses in hard-to-find sizes.

The dresses, priced at $25 or less, have been carefully screened to ensure that each is clean and undamaged. The gowns are available through the generosity of both retail establishments and individual donations.

Project Prom started in 2003, recognizing that the prom is an expensive evening and that many eligible high school students might be denied the experience as a result. Since then, Project Prom has provided hundreds of eligible high school girls the opportunity to choose free formal attire from a selection of thousands of donated items.
