Activities continue thoughout April at Carrick Library
Those interested in keeping backyard chickens or would just like to learn more about chicken farming in the city are welcome to attend a free program on backyard coops at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Carrick on Saturday, April 14, at 10 a.m.
Representatives from the Uniontown Poultry Authority will be here to talk about the ins and outs of chicken coops, feed, local laws and guidelines. They will even have some live chickens.
The library offers thousands of free eBooks, eAudio, and eVideo titles. Drop in at the Gadget Lab at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Carrick on Tuesday, April 17, at 5 p.m. and take the fear out of digital. Try out an eReader, MP3 player or tablet and learn how to connect to library resources from the comfort of a home or office.
The library is also offering an After-School Art Club for school-age children in grades 1-6. Kids are welcome to drop into the Library after school and get creative. Come in for a new craft every Thursday in April at 3:30 p.m.
Teen Tuesdays @ the Library is for teens ages 12-18. They can come hang out at the library every Tuesday in April at 3:30 p.m. for cool art projects, crafts, snacks, games and more.
Storytime features fun stories, rhymes and songs that nurture early literacy skills in toddlers and pre-schoolers on Thursdays in April at 11:30 a.m. and Fridays in April at 3:30 p.m.
One Book, Every Young Child: Storytime! is on Saturday, April 14, at 1 p.m. Now in its seventh year, Pennsylvania's statewide initiative, One Book, Every Young Child, raises awareness about the importance of reading aloud to young children. Come hear the children's librarian share this year's story "Stop Snoring, Bernard!" plus more books, crafts, and activities.
Arbor Day Celebration will take place on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. This special family program celebrates trees and the beauty of our natural world with stories and crafts for kids of all ages.
