As a life-long resident of the South Side, I would like to register my disapproval of the South Side Neighborhood Improvement District (SSNID) tax.
All of my life I have cleaned-up after myself (and others) by sweeping my front stoop, sidewalk and street. This is the way I was brought-up by my late Polish mother. Why should I and other seniors have to pay for the renters and visitors that don't believe they have any responsibilities to their environment?
If the business owners cannot clean-up after their customers, they, not the community as a whole, should pay someone to do it.
