CCI's Gerace honored at Green Power Awards
Ann Jones Gerace, executive director of Conservation Consultants, Inc. was one of 27 environmental leaders to be honored at Penn Futures Green Power Awards Luncheon at the Fairmont.
Bestowed annually by Penn Future, the awards recognize individuals, businesses and institutions that blaze the trail toward a cleaner and healthier Pennsylvania. Ms. Gerace received one of eight Green Power awards under the Green Power: Save It category for her work in energy conservation.
Ms. Gerace spearheads Conservation Consultants, Inc. (CCI) a public interest organization focused on environmental education and sustainable development. CCI's programs support energy efficiency, green jobs, and the green economy. CCI owns and operates an environmental education center in Pittsburgh that is a model of green building and includes a 4.8kW solar array, making it the first commercial building to bet meter in Duquesne Light's territory.
Under her leadership, CCI has educated thousands of home homeowners, architects, buildings, and public officials about the economic and environmental benefits of sustainable design and development; consulted with the Pittsburgh Public Schools to incorporate leadingedge environmental and architectural innovations in school renovation and construction programs; trained 90 solar installers in western Pennsylvania and served over 50,000 lowincome, elderly and/or minority clients.
Ms. Gerace is the author of several books on energy efficiency and green building practices.
