Dogtoberfest coming to SouthSide Works
Dogtoberfest, Pittsburgh's premier pet adoption event, hosted by the Coalition to Adopt, Rehome and Match Abandoned Animals (CARMAA) is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Enter the Pooch Pride Parade with $500 in Prizes. Win $100 for best costume, $100 for owner/pet look alike or $100 drawn randomly from anyone who enters, costume or not. Parade starts at 11:30 a.m, with a $5 entry fee.
More than 100 shelters, breed rescues and non-profits will be on hand with dogs, along with vendors, food and demonstrations. Enjoy homemade food, live entertainment, training demonstrations, Ask-A-Trainer and Ask-A-Vet booths, plus any eligible dogs can participate in the onsite rabies clinic.
Adoptable dogs from across the region will be featured and available for meet-and-greets but any adoptions will be handled after the event through the individual rescues. Dogs from the public are welcome to come and meet the adoptable dogs or just have a day out on the town.
Public dogs are required to be current on vaccinations and on a non-retractable leash. Fenced meet-and-greet areas and potty break areas will be available for all dogs. Admission is free for the public.
The event will take place next to McCormick and Schmick's in the SouthSide Works. Bring a dog for a day of fun and maybe meet a furry friend to adopt. Rain or shine.
