Health screenings, education planned in Arlington Heights

September 27, 2011

Health screenings and health education are planned for neighborhoods in South Pittsburgh communities to help area residents gain a better understanding about the problem of infant deaths due to unsafe sleep practices.

Nursing students from Duquesne University School of Nursing will be at the Arlington Heights Community Center on September 29 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to offer infant safe sleep information, blood pressure screening, healthy eating tips, cholesterol information and breast cancer awareness along with information on smoking cessation, crib safety, and stress management.

Light refreshments and door prizes will be offered. This event is part of a continuing partnership between Duquesne University School of Nursing, The Birmingham Foundation, S.I.D.S. of PA, and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh to offer health education and support to families in South Pittsburgh Communities.

For information, call SIDS of PA at 412-322-5680 x 4.
